Golf in Star Valley

Star Valley has a number of great golf courses to go to.

The Star Valley View Golf Course, in Afton, is a Johnny Miller signature course.

The 18-hole course competes with neighboring courses as a beautiful and intimate getaway for residents and visitors alike. The terrain is a compact, walk able course, gently sloping at the Bridger/Teton National Forest foothills. The par 3 holes are particularly interesting. Each hole plays gently down hill with a view of the beautiful Star Valley Landscape to the west, along with the LDS Temple to the north. The course presents golfers with all the challenges and strategy needed for a rewarding and fun golf experience in a dramatic setting.

Boasting 360 degree mountain views, beautiful ponds, water features, and fairways lined by mounds, trees and shrubs characterize this compact design. The facility includes a practice green as well as a 280 yard driving range. Originally a 9-hole course with a simple design, Star Valley View Golf Course has matured into a fun but challenging facility for all to play.

As a longtime ranch owner and frequent fisherman of Star Valley, Miller wanted to give back to Afton, the community that had been good to him over the years.

"I've been fond of the laid-back attitude and beauty of the Star Valley area for a long time. As an avid fisherman and frequent visitor to Star Valley, I wanted to design a golf course the high school kids, as well as the town residents could play and be proud to call their own," Miller explained. "It's been my passion to take projects that are, in a sense, forgotten about - be it a ranch or golf course - clean them up, and make them beautiful in their own settings."
